his October 5, Core Paws is celebrating our 5 year anniversary with a Bingo Night Fundraiser and you’re invited.

The event will take place from 6 pm -9 pm on October 5, 2019, at Lucky Lab NW’s Quimby St. location: 1945 NW Quimby St. here in charming Portland, OR. Lucky Lab is a brewery, so, unfortunately, you must be 21 years old or over to attend. Pets are also not allowed inside the building.

Attendance is free. You first bingo card is $5. Additional bingo cards are $2 each. All funds raised from the cards will go to supporting Core Paws’ mission: to help shelters nationwide find homes for cats and dogs with health issues, behavioral issues or those who are in their twilight years. There will be door prizes and prizes for bingo winners!

Our History:
Core Paws is an entirely volunteer-run organization with its roots in Portland. 5 years ago, the nonprofit’s founder, Kara Hamada, met an adorable but very sickly kitten named Abbott at a pet shelter in Mt. St. Helens, OR. Poor Abbott suffered from a congenital heart condition and the staff was unsure how long the kitten would survive. Understandably, Kara could not get the small animal out of her mind. She continued to check up on him throughout his stay at the shelter, even considering adopting him herself.

Amazingly, Abbott was soon adopted by a family whose son had the same ailment. This beautiful story sparked something in Kara. Abbott’s tale proved to her that there was a perfect home for each and every hard-to-place cat or dog, it was simply a matter of finding it.

From this powerful inspiration, Kara drafted the business plan for what is now Core Paws, a digital nonprofit which continues to partner with rescues and shelters to find the right homes for pets like Abbott to this day.
