Meet Brandon Roosevelt
Dignified Pet Services presents 'People in the Neighborhood'
Hardworking, competitive, athletic and kind are just a few words that describe Brandon Roosevelt. He is also co-owner of a new online business, DoggieiD, which offers customized dog tags that replicate actual state drivers’ licenses. The tags include name, address and phone, so a lost pet can be reunited with his or her owners in no time. Priced under $20 with free shipping, part of the proceeds of each tag goes to local pet nonprofits.
“Our mission is to create awareness for lost dogs, as well as to give them something cool to wear out on the town,” says Brandon. “Giving back to the community is the driving force — helping pet organizations is really where our passion comes from.” While he currently does not have a dog of his own, Brandon plans to adopt a rescue when the time is right.
Growing up in Wilsonville, Brandon moved to Montana for college, where he played football and ran track for Montana State U, earning a degree in Health and Nutrition. During that time he also traveled to study in Brisbane, Australia for six months.
By day, Brandon works in the medical field, selling spinal implant materials to neurologists and orthopedic surgeons.
“I am out in the field on my feet all day long, so ‘my shoe’ is my Nike running shoe. They’re comfortable and perfect for every day.”
When not working one of his two jobs, he loves to be outside, on the water, working out, or hanging with friends. Golfing, hiking, and picnics with friends are part of his active lifestyle.
“I have a really fun group of friends and we often hang out in a park, playing football, listening to music while having a picnic. I enjoy cooking, and love to BBQ. In fact, I have this specialty rib recipe for a rub and a sauce.” Spoken like the restaurant cook he was in college.
A lover of good food to this day, his favs are Thai and Mexican. His guilty pleasure? A DQ M&M Blizzard.
“I do not get a lot of downtime with two jobs, but I must say my most prized possession would have to be my back yard hammock,” he says. “This is where I can relax and decompress. I’m not too materialistic, so I don’t really have a lot of toys. I enjoy hanging out in shorts and flip-flops and just being outdoors.”
His favorite season is “right before summer here in Oregon — when you can feel it coming. It’s the best time of year for visiting the coast or Multnomah Falls.”
Making a difference, donating to worthy causes and giving back to the community are what matter to this likable guy, who insists his long-term goal is not about selling dog tags but being able to help the community by giving back a percentage from every sale. Partnering with nonprofits like Fences for Fido allows them to work with his company while it helps them.
“If I won the lottery tomorrow I would immediately give 90% of it away. I would donate to pet charities and to cancer research. Then I would travel, as Africa and the Great Barrier Reef are on my bucket list,” he smiles.
“I am really proud of what we do, as we have set up charity arms to make a difference. I believe that not enough people give back with their time and or their money. You can’t take either of them with you in the end.”
