Meet Kayte Wolf

Dignified Pet Services presents 'People in the Neighborhood'

Philadelphia transplant, Kayte Wolf, moved to Portland eight years ago with three friends. She’s never looked back.  A lover of the outdoors, Kayte can often be found hiking, running, kayaking or walking her beloved rescue dog, Baxter, a Wirehaired Dachshund who was fortunate enough to be rescued from a puppy mill with 117 other dogs.

A lifelong animal lover, Kayte had been a volunteer at the Oregon Humane Society for close to seven years before she fell for Baxter. She had fostered him for about eight months, and when she decided he needed to stay with her — he was already home.  A Team Lead of the Spay & Save Program, this compassionate lady loves being able to help give low-income families access to affordable spay/neuter services. Kayte champions the program — a part of the Animal Shelter Alliance of Portland (ASAP) — saying that everyone should be able to have a pet to love, no matter what their income may be.

Compassionate and funloving, Kayte loves hanging out with her friends, going to see live music, enjoying cocktails, and of course hanging out with Baxter and enjoying outdoor adventures.

Chatting recently with Kayte, we asked about some of the things people might not normally know about her.

Morning person or night owl?

“Definitely a night owl, but becoming more like my mother, who was always an early riser. I need a lot of coffee in the morning,” she laughs.

What’s a perfect day?

“It begins with brunch and cocktails with friends, as I love being around friends socializing, followed by a hike with my dog and ending with dinner out somewhere fun … and of course more cocktails,” she laughs.

Secret addiction?

“Well . . . people would be surprised to know that I am addicted to true crime shows. ‘Investigation Discovery’ is my favorite television channel and I also love listening to true crime podcasts.”

DIY or Hire it Done?

“Definitely I like to do things myself so I can have things the way I like them.”

The shoe that is so you?

“My moccasins. They are my comfy go-to shoe. They go with anything and I wear them inside and out.”
